Dallas World Champions

Dallas defeated Miami in game six to win the 2011 NBA Finals. Just like I predicted that they would win in six. The Mavs played with more heart and more hustle. It is nice to see such a team as the Heat to get humbled. Wade and LeBron had nothing good to say to Dirk the whole series. Dirk did not react back with words but rather did his talking on the court.

Dirk Nowitzki was named the 2011 NBA Finals MVP. He had so many clutch performances in the playoffs including tonight. Dirk had an amazing second half. Nowitzki was just 1-12 at halftime. Dirk finished the game with 26 points. Jason Terry and Shawn Marion had an outstanding series helping Dallas to win it all for the first time in franchise history.

NBA Finals: Game 3

The NBA Finals is all tied up at 1-1 going into game 3. Dirk and the rest of the Mavs battled back for a win in game two. For the team and the Dallas fans, they are hoping to win at least two out of three. If Dallas wins two at home they will have no problem stealing one more in Miami to win the NBA Finals.

Game three will be played in Dallas. The fans in Dallas have not been known for there loudness and intensity during games, not even close games. Yes, the fans were going crazy when they were beating the two time defending champs by 30 points. However, they were walking around watching other things during the series against the Thunder.

The Heat will lose tonight, but it will not be a part of home court advantage. Dallas will win a close one tonight to take a 2-1 advantage on this series.

Shaq Retires

The superstar basketball player Shaquille O'Neal retired today. He retired in a very odd way, via twitter. He posted a short video thanking his fans for supporting him through his career. Shaq won four NBA Titles, one with the Heat and three with the Lakers. Shaq will be remembered as one of the most entertaining players to watch in NBA history.

Dirk Nowitzki Injury

Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki has come down with an injury. This adds on to the loss last night. Dirk's finger is not broken but he has torn a ligament in his middle finger. Dirk said "it was just a freak play" when he and Bosh both went after a loose ball. Dirk said he was alright but that would explain his poor shooting.

Dirk is set to play the rest of this series with an injured finger. He will need to find another way to score points to help out his team overcome the explosive offense of Miami. Dirk is a tough guy, but if it will help the team to sit him on the bench, I do not see why you wouldn't.

NBA Finals: Game 2

Game two of the NBA Finals will be played tonight in Miami. Dallas will have to find a way to shoot the ball better, and make open shots. As for the Heat, just keep doing what your doing and you will win this series.

Game two is such a crucial game in this series. If Miami wins game two to go up 2-0 there is no change of Dallas winning this series. I am going to stay with my pick that Dallas will win this series. Dallas will overcome the poor shooting and the injury of Dirk Nowitzki. Miami, shot excellent in game one and will need to do the same thing in game two. If Miami gets hot, if the big three are on there best game like they were in game one, Dallas will lose again.

The Dallas defense will step up in game two, and the offense will prove to be too much for Miami. Dallas will win game two 98-90, to tie this series up 1-1.

Jim Tressel Resigns

Jim Tressel the Ohio St. football coach resigned today, in the midst of an NCAA violation. Tressel led Ohio St. to their first National Championship in 34 years. "After meeting with university officials, we agreed that it is in the best interest of Ohio State that I resign as head football coach,” Tressel said in a statement that was released by the University Of Ohio St.

Luke Fickell will be the head coach for the 2011 season. Fickell had already been chosen to be the coach for the five game suspension that Tressel would have to serve in the 2011 season.

Tressel who was 58, had a record of 106-22 at Ohio St. He lead his team to eight BCS bowl games in the ten years he coached at Ohio St. He coached 15 years at Youngstown University, and had a record of 135-57-2. At Youngstown he won four division 1-AA National Championships. Tressel's over all record as a coach is 241-79-2.

NBA Finals: Game 1

Game 1 of the NBA Finals will be played in Miami. This game will be the deciding game. If Dallas can take game 1 in Miami then my prediction will stand and Dallas will win in game six.

There are some key match ups for this series as I talked about in an earlier post. Tonight's key match up will be Dirk Nowitzki against either LeBron James or Chris Bosh(whoever they decide to guard Dirk). Bosh and LeBron may have to tag team on Dirk to keep him from scoring more than thirty. On the other side of the ball Dirk will guard Bosh and Marion will guard James.

If Dirk scores thirty there is no chance of Miami winning this game. Miami will have to keep him under twenty points. On the other hand if LeBron and Wade combine for sixty points you can count Dallas out of this one.

In game one Dallas will shut down the big three in Miami, beating them 108-99.

Former Sooner Brandon Everage Body Is Found.

Brandon Everage was swimming in a river in Texas, when he went under and never resurfaced. Brandon was out having a good time with his friends. It is almost unbelievable that this would happen the day after Austin Box was buried.

Brandon's body was found today by the Milam County, Texas Sheriffs Department after going missing in the Little River on Friday afternoon. Everage was just 30 years old. My thoughts and prayers go out to Brandon's family and friends.

NBA Finals!

The NBA Finals are here! I am very excited to see one of the best offense from the West, play against the best offense in the East. The Mavs are not going to have the mis matches that they had against the Thunder. These two teams are going to match up very well against eachother. This game is going to be a battle of the defenses. Should the teams play their best defense players or play offensive threats to put points on the board.

Who will match up on eachother? If your asking me you start out with LeBron guarding Dirk. As the game goes they will need to rotate Bosh and LeBron on him. Dirk cannot guard Lebron, however he may be able to guard Bosh. Who will gaurd LeBron? I think that Dallas will start Marion on LeBron. Marion will have to be quick, and stay out of foul trouble. The last matchup I will cover is the point guard position. Jason Kidd and Mike Bibby will guard eachother in this series.

This series is going to be a great one to watch. It is a real hard one for me to pick. I am going to pick Dallas to win this series in six games. Stay tuned for more coverage of the NBA Finals.

NBA Finals

My predictions for the NBA Finals is the Mavs and the Miami Heat. Personally i would rather have the bulls be in the Finals, but i don't see them beating the Heat, because there aren't enough stars on the team. Now for the finals, I see the Heat winning it all because although the Mavs are a more experienced team, they don't have enough people to guard The Big Three. If you put Barea or Terry on Wade, they might be able to slow him down, but Wade is a smarter and better player. I don't think either one can stop him. Also if you put Peja Stojakovic or Shawn Marion on Lebron, I think Lebron will be able to score on either one of them. The one star i think the Mavs will be able to stop is Chris Bosh. With Dirk guarding him, I don't think Bosh will be able to show up like he normally does. I think although Dirk is one of the best scorers in the league, in the end, the Heat have better scorers and more stars, and will come up with the win.

Playoffs Update

I picked both of my predictions wrong. I had the Thunder beating Dallas therefore I picked them winning game three and four because I thought they must win them to win this series. As for the Miami and Chicago series I picked them to be tied at 2-2 going to Chicago for game five.

WEST
Dallas leads 3-1
4.OKC-105
3.DAL-112 I am going to hold my ground on the Thunder winning this series. It will be tough for them to win three straight. The Thunder have won more in Dallas then they have playing them at home this year. The Thunder will win game five to make the series 3-2 coming home to OKC.

EAST
Miami leads 3-1
1.CHI-93
3.MIA-101 This is another series gone bad for me. Chicago has got to shut down the big three for Miami. Put your worst defenders in the starting five on LeBron and Wade, let them have their points and make Bosh, Bibby, and Ilgauskas beat you. The Bulls will win game five to tie the series 3-2.

Austin Box: A Weather Man?

This is just a video I came across and thought it would be appropriate to share. Hopefully this will bring to you some laughter to take over the pain of the loss of this great Sooner.

A side of Austin we never really got to see of Austin as a fan:

NBA Playoffs Game 3 & 4

Well the first two games of the Conference Finals went as I predicted on both sides of the bracket. We are in for two great series. Games three and four are going to be tough for me. Here are the predictions for the next two games.

WEST
4.OKC-106
3.DAL-100
This series is now tied 1-1 going into game three in OKC. The Thunder have not lost two in a row this entire season and did not allow it to happen last night either. I am going to be brave and say that the Thunder will win both games at home, and lead the series 3-1.

EAST
1.CHI-75
2.MIA-85
The Heat did a great job responding after the blowout in game 1. The series is tied at 1-1. The next two games will be played in Miami. The series will be tied 2-2 going back to Chicago for game five.

Ogle Family: The Rivalry House

Tyler Ogle is a young man, who starts for the Oklahoma Sooners Baseball program, as a catcher. What most people don't know about him is that he is orginally from Austin, Texas and was a big longhorns fan. He also has a sister named Mandy and she starts for the Texas Longhorns Softball program, so there is a big rivalry in that family. Their mom wears both colors, but she says when they play the texas song she will stick her horns up even if she is on the Oklahoma side. Tyler is also a role model to his sister and she takes a lot of advice from him and learns from his achievements and his mistakes.

Sooner Baseball

The Sooners are playing the best baseball of the season now. Many claim that they were a bust. I would agree because they were picked to win the Big 12 and be a Championship contender. The Sooners struggled with adversity and arguments within the teams and coaches. Coach Golloway got on to his players in a team meeting as well as in a press conference. This changed the hole attitude of this team.

Since the press conference the Sooners beat Nebraska twice (the third game got rained out) and beat number 10 TCU for the second time this season. The Sooners look like a hole new team since this movement went through the team. Captain Tyler Ogle went up to coach Golloway and told him the things that were going wrong causing this team not to play well. It was then up to Coach Golloway and Ogle to turn this team around and thats exactly what they did.

The Sooners moved up to number three in the Big 12 and number ten in the NCBWA. Oklahoma will play a crucial series against Texas this weekend. If the sooners win this series they will move up to number two in the Big 12. Texas is number 8 in the league at batting following the Sooners at .264. Michael Rocha will get the start in game 1 for the Sooners. I think that OU must win game one to have a chance at the series. The team who wins game one will have the momentum and the confidence to finish up the series.

Oklahoma Sooners Running Back Core

The Sooners have always been a team who used more than one back. Even with Adrian Peterson you had Allan Patrick who would come in and give Peterson a rest. Coach Stoops has already said that the Sooners will have three or four backs subbing in and out. But the question is who will be the work horse. Who is going to get the most carries and the most playing time? We already know that Brennan Clay, Roy Finch, Brandon Williams, Jonathan Miller, and Dominique Whaley are all gonna get carries.

Many think that it will be Finch getting the start and being the work force because of what little we saw of him last year. In my opinion the start will go to the big back Jonathan Miller who will also be the work horse. Coming in behind Miller will be Finch who is a sophomore. The guy is one of the smallest backs Oklahoma has ever had. Much like Quentin Griffin he is small and fast, and will hide behind the offensive line until a hole opens up. Dominique Whaley is another guy everyone is talking about. I had the chance to tour the Oklahoma campus with Coach Merv Johnson. He kept talking about Whaley, he says that he will have a bigger role in this offense than people expect. Whaleys stats and workout are better than Adrian Peterson expect for the 40 yard dash.

I want to know who you guys think will be the work horse for this offense.

NBA Playoffs Update

Last night playoffs game were very unexpected at least for me. I went 1-2 on my predictions. The Thunder played one of the worst games of the season. They looked as if they were an elementary team throwing the ball away and jacking up shots. As for the Spurs, do they even care? The Spurs came into the series thinking easy sweep. Now it is the Spurs on their heels to stay alive in the playoffs. Dallas played like I expected the Thunder and the Spurs to play last night. Great ball movement and nice shot selection gave them a fairly easy win.

Last nights Scores

1.SAS-86
2.MEM-104 Memphis leads series 3-1.

4.OKC-101
5.DEN-104 Oklahoma City leads series 3-1.

3.DAL-93
6.POR-82 Dallas leads series 3-2.

Stayed tuned for predictions of tomorrow and Thursdays game after tonights games.

NBA Playoffs

The 2011 NBA Playoffs has started off unlike any before. Who would have given the Grizzles a chance to win? Who would have thought that the Thunder would have a chance to sweep the Nuggets? This years post season is going to be one to remember. Lots of upsets, and games that are going to have you so stressed you wont know what to do.

Here I am going to show you the scores from the previous game and predictions for the next.

West

1.SAS 98 93 88
8.MEM 101 87 91 The Spurs will win game 4 to tie the series 2-2.

4.OKC 107 106 97
5.DEN 103 89 94 The Thunder will sweep the Nuggets tonight in Denver.

3.DAL 89 101 92 82

6.NYK 85 93 96 89 Boston swept the Knicks.

Thunder Update

The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Nuggets Sunday night to win game one of the series. The Thunder will play again Wednesday night for game two.

The keys for the Thunder wining this series is to keep Perkins out of foul trouble. If the Thunder move the ball around and use Perkins inside the Thunder will win this series in five games. Kevin Durant and Westbrook need to be the leaders of the team even though they have the least experience. This is a young team, and even if they do not win this year, there will be many more to come.

Quick Update: OKC Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder move one step closer to winning the Northwest Division and earning a possible three or four seed in the playoffs.

The Final Four Wrap Up

Well its hard to believe this but both of my predictions were wrong. VCU falling to Butler 70-62 and Kentucky falling to Uconn 56-55. Out of the two losses I picked I am most suprised about the Kentucky loss. The VCU pick was more out of who I wanted to win and not really thought out who was the better team.

VCU trailed the whole game. They never really got off to that start that I had said. I was right on winning by less than ten, it was just the wrong team who won by ten. On the other hand Kentucky did start off like I had said but did not finish the game when Uconn was at their strongest point. Kentucky took a really questionable shot there at the end. I personnaly think that the shot was not neccesary but also there was to much dribbling before the shot. It comes down to the free throws. You make the second free throw there at the end, we are going into overtime.

The Final Four

College basketball is drawing close to the end. Today the final four play will begin starting with Butler vs. VCU. Shortly after that game has ended the Kentucky vs. Uconn game will begin. Since the Butler vs. VCU game is first we will start of with them.

I have said from the beginning of the tournament that VCU is going to win it all and I am not backing down now. Butler has had some pretty clutch shooting in the tourney but sometimes has the tendency to start out slow. This is the point where I think that VCU will take over. They get off to a very quick start and are very good at closing out games. VCU will beat Butler in todays game by less than 10.

I am not the biggest fan of Kentucky nor Uconn but I have said that both of these teams will have very good tourney runs. Uconn has proven to start out very slow much like Butler. Kentucky will need to watch out and take advantage of this because as you have seen in previous tourney games Uconn will heat up and take over the game. Kentucky will win this game if they make the simple shots, play good defense and take care of the ball. They will win this game buy 8 or more.

Quick Update: Oklahoma hires new head coach Lon Kruger

Oklahoma after have the worst two year stretch in forty years gets rid of Coach Capel. A great list of possible coaches has come to an end as Oklahoma officially announces the hiring of Lon Kruger.
